Big Hill to Harcourt
Big Hill and Ravenswood sit just south of Bendigo; Harcourt is further down the Calder, among the orchards. We fit visits here in alongside our Bendigo and Castlemaine runs, so you're not paying for a special trip out along the highway. Bigger blocks
Homes out here often sit on bigger blocks, with more yard for a dog to use and more ground to cover on a yard pick-up. Dogs on bigger blocks also spend long days on their own when everyone drives into town for work, which is where a drop-in visit or a walk in the middle of the day helps.
Walking out of town
Out of town there are fewer footpaths and more gravel shoulders, so we choose quieter roads and tracks with good sightlines, and your dog stays on the lead. Some properties border farmland with stock. We keep well clear of fences with animals behind them and never take a dog through a paddock gate.
Two councils
Big Hill and Ravenswood are in the City of Greater Bendigo, where dogs must be on a lead in public places unless they're in a designated off-leash area. Harcourt is in Mount Alexander Shire, which has its own rules for parks and reserves. Your rates notice says which council you're in. Either way, we walk your dog on the lead.
